I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University) is the top medical university in Russia. Its history begins in 1758 as the medical faculty at Imperial Moscow University.

All English-taught programmes are provided on a fee-paid basis for all categories of students. 

Annually, the Russian government depending on inter-governmental agreements with other countries reserves scholarships (quotas) for foreigners at Russian universities. Preparatory training programme:

The preparatory training programme is not a degree programme whereas it helps international applicants seekeing a degree in Russia to prepare for admission to a degree programme.
 

Visa Requirments:

A foreign citizen who is going to study at Sechenov University is obliged to: 

- have a valid visa (if the country has a visa regime) and a migration card with the mark "study purpose”; 

- submit within three working days a copy of the passport, visa, migration card, a copy of the study agreement to the Department for Migration Services of the Sechenov University  

If international students do not hand over documents on registration within three days after crossing the state border of Russia, they may be punished in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.

• International students, whose passports expire after 6-9 months, should extend them or get new passports and then take them to the Migration Department for re-registration and for a new multiple entry visas processing;

• Before going to other regions of the Russian Federation (republics, territories, areas) international students must inform the Center for International Education about the place, purpose and terms of their trip  (write an application addressed to Mr. Dmitry Morozov, Director of the Center for International Education via 1msmu-inter@mail.ru);

• international students must inform in advance about the change of place of residence within Moscow and Moscow region;

Thus, it is necessary to hand over documents for re-registration at the new place of residence (offices 121-1, 121-2, 125);

• Students must always have a passport, migration card, student ID card and a detachable part of inquiry notice;

• All foreign citizens must leave the territory of the Russian Federation within two weeks after graduation.

Sechenov University implements the additional general educational programme “Preparation for admission to the university (for foreigners)” aimed at advanced training of the applicants.  

There're 2 preparatory courses in accordance with a duration of study:

1) regular course (term of study - 9 months;starting from October);

2) intensive course (term of study - 5 months;starting from February)   

Students learn Russian as a foreign language, chemistry, biology and physics.

Documents required for obtaining a Russian student visa:

• The original invitation letter issued by the university

• Certificate of Origin and Translation of the Diploma into English - With the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the seal of justice

• Origin and translation of diplomas in English - with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the seal of justice

• Completed forms for the Russian Embassy (these will be filled in by the representative based in Iran)

Health certificate:

You will ask for a health certificate by visiting a GP. The test doctor will write for you with hepatitis and AIDS. Approved for both AIDS and hepatitis. This certificate must be re-certified by the medical system and eventually translated into official translation and receive State and Justice approval.

Bank issued financial statement:

Get your printout by visiting the bank where you have the account. This printout is issued in English and does not need to be translated. This account must be in your own name.

The balance of this account at the time of issuance should be 1 to 2 million USD.

Travel Insurance:

Apply for travel insurance for the Russian Federation by visiting your insurance company. This policy will go up to 6,000 Euros and will be issued in multiple ways, with the possibility of multiple transfers (no translation required). Obtain a 3-day insurance policy. (This policy is at least 2 thousand dollars and can be higher depending on the age and ...

- $ 5 to deposit into the Russian Embassy account for embassy appointments and review documents that will be paid in cash to the resident representative.

- Two snapshots of 1.2x2.5 and three snapshots of 1x2

- Identification card with translation and confirmation from the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

- Passport

- A copy of all the documents cited above
