About University :

“AIETI” Medical School is a branch of David Tvildiani Medical University. Its mission is to provide scientifically-oriented Higher Medical Education based on the best International experience.

AIETI Medical School is the first non-governmental highest educational Medical Institution in Georgia established by Academician David Tvildiani and Dr. Dimitri Tvildiani in 1989.

After developing Residency, PHD and Doctorate programs and adding the Nursing School, AIETI Medical School has been upgraded by the National Authorization Council to the status of an University and from 2011 is named after its founder and the first rector as “David Tvildiani Medical University”.

AIETI Medical School Has been recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization) and listed in “ World Directory of Medical Schools” in 1995. Shortly after that, it’s diploma hasbeen verified and authorized by the Medical Examination Committees of the USA, different countries of Europe and Asia.

Currently, David Tvildiani Medical University and its “AIETI Medical School” are active members of:

- Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE);

- Association of Medical education in Europe (AMEE);

- ORPHEUS – Organization for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in European System;

Academician David Tvildiani - outstanding Georgian cardiologist, great educator, consummate master of medical art - was a bright representative of Georgian Medical Society, distinguishably combining in himself personal greatness, perfect professionalism in medical field and incomparable teaching talent, creating his era in Georgian Medicine. David Tvildiani initiated and founded a new direction in Medicine – Heliomagnetic Cardiology. He was first and permanent Rector of “AIETI” Medical School until the last days of his life.

Over 200 graduates of DTMU have successfully passed the qualifying exams and have already completed or are currently enrolled in residency or other proficiency courses, working as physicians in prominent USA and European Universities and Clinics.

The absolute majority of our graduates have been employed in the professional field, while many more successfully passed the international exams (USMLE, PLAB, MCI) and are currently developing their skills at clinics and research centers of the USA, Germany, Britain, Sweden and other countries. A number of the graduates have returned to the School as proficient teachers. Many have earned their PhD degree.

AIETI is listed in the WHO AVICENNA Directory of Medical Schools, it is a member of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE) and Organization for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System (ORPHEUS).

Academic calendar

Academic year in DTMU is calculated by the period of each year from 1 September until 31st of August of the following year. Each academic year has 2 semesters: autumn and spring, including winter and summer holidays. Studying period is 20 weeks in both semesters. There are also about two-week periods for repassing oral and written exams. The holidays in winter are normally lasts no less than 2 weeks and at least one month during the summer season. The studying process takes place 6 days a week, usually (for contact hours) from 9 to 18 hours.

 

Holidays:

31 December, 1 and 2 January - New Year's Holidays;

7 January - Christmas;

The day after Easter (Monday) (dates are transient);

May 26 - Independence Day of Georgia;

August 28 - The Day of the Assumption of the Mother of God (Maria);

November 23 - The Day of St. George.

 

Mobility - The student's right to continue studying to another higher education institution after one year of study within the same educational level cycle.

The student can obtain the status of mobility after the registration on the web portal and paying the fee of study to another University.

During the academic year students' mobility at Davit Tvildiani Medical University is announced twice, within the timeframe established by the LEPL National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.

The information about the terms, vacant places and requirements is announced at the web-page of University and electronical portal of National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.

A person can apply for mobility if he has passed United National Examination successfully and/or had applied for enrollment without passing the examination to the Ministry and who had received the Minister act but could not enrolled as the institution had been liquidated without defined responsible side/successor.

A person who wishes to use mobility must get registered in the electronic portal and pay the fees for mobility to another HEI to obtain the according status of mobility willing person.

The student can get enrolled in the university upon fulfilling the regulatory requirements as well as those mentioned in section 1. The potential student must apply in written to the university and submit copies of the personal file documentation (including education related documents and enrollment order).

 

Document required while Process of Registration:

• Extract from the order of enrollment in the higher education institution;

• Extract from student's suspension / termination order;

• Students Card (marks sheet)

• A document confirming the presence of military registration (for boys only);

• Original and Copy of ID, for the citizens of another country Notarized translation and original Passport;

• A certified copy of the document certifying the full general education. In case of full general education abroad - Document of Recognition issued by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement;

• 2 pieces of photograph 3X4 and electronical version on CD;

Student’s internal mobility

o DTMU students have rights to use internal mobility;

o Internal mobility is announced in the University twice per year, in spring and autumn semesters.

o Students who have student status suspended can also use internal mobility.

o Students can use internal mobility in case they are studying in the 3rd to 5th semesters in the relative education stage.

o Mobility rights are restricted for those who had been not able to accomplish the 1-2 semester credit-hours.

o The timeline of internal mobility is defined by rector’s order, which is published on the University web page and information desk in a place reachable by anybody.

o The person willing to use internal mobility applies to the rector in a written form, and obtains status of mobility candidate upon completing registration in the timeframe defined by the order. Not following the deadlines causes loss of rights for mobility.

o Number of students able to successfully use internal mobility is limited by the vacant spots in the programmes, while in case of competition GPA is considered as reference.

o An order on internal mobility of a student is released by the rector, while this decision is reflected in the united student registry within 5 days.

 

ADMISSION

The student is obliged to appear to the university and present a number of documents respecting the deadline stated in a specially published rector’s order.

 

Obligatory documents for the registration

• Personal application (In case the student is not present, a legal attorney can write the application, considering there is a notary power of attorney document specifying this role);

• ID card copy;

• Original copy of the school certificate;

• For those under military conscription obligation, the document proving enrollment in the military conscript body;

• Four photos, 3X4;

Remark: in case of any of the mentioned documents not submitted in time, agreement and status activation is not allowed. The person can then apply to rector for enrollment, within one year from the act publication. In this case, it is not possible to use state scholarship to cover tuition fees.

 

Activation of student status

When all the documents are submitted, an agreement is signed and an order is published regarding student enrollment, which is reflected in student registry base, with student status activation.

Student status activation also means giving a student identification number, registry in the Ministry of Education united student registry and issue of student card.

 

Registration timeline

The registration timeline/deadlines are defined by rector’s order before the beginning of each study. The order is published on the official website and public place in the university.

The registration deadline can’t be less than 10 days after the publication of registration dates, and is dependent on the time of beginning of semester.

 

The New Campus

 Starting from September, 2016, a new Campus of the David Tvildiani Medical University invites foreign students to live and learn in its New Campus.

 The Campus is located in the city of Rustavi, a quiet and clean small city 30 km-s away from Tbilisi, the Capital of Georgia.

 The Campus is located next to the gorgeous valley of the Mtkvari river In the central part of the city. It’s location and the landscape provides with excellent environment for learning and students activities.

 Two floors of the main building consist of classrooms, auditoriums , library and other administrative facilities, related to the teaching process. Upper three floors serve as the dormitory and are organized to provide comfortable living to the students. There are isolated rooms to accommodate two or four students. The building is equipped with all modern HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning) and internet system.

 Next to the main building is a student cafeteria, providing breakfast, lunch and dinner to the students on the daily basis.

 An experienced team of Chiefs is preparing tasty Georgian, Asian and European dishes from the most fresh and ecologically pure products. There is a convenient store at the Campus and a farmers market at the walking distance from the Campus.

 There are facilities for the variety of sports activities: there is a basketball/valley ball playground, a huge field for playing Football, Rugby, Golf or Cricket. There is an Olympic size swimming pool and a full activity Gym and a sport hall within 250 m from the Campus.

 There is a shuttle service to the Bus station of Rustavi, city of Tbilisi, as well as Tbilisi International Airport.

 

Tuition Fee , Accommodation and Application

Faculty of Medicine -tuition fee – $ 7000 US for the first year and $5,000 for subsequent years.
Accommodation is from $ 100 to $400 US per month.
